OHSU Fibromyalgia
Clinic
Oregon Health &
Science University (OHSU) has a clinic devoted to the management
of fibromyalgia patients. This clinic meets on every Wednesday
afternoon from noon to 5.30 pm.
Each patient is
given a comprehensive evaluation and education experience that
consists of the following:
1. An introductory video explaining what is known about
fibromyalgia and the current treatment options.
2. A comprehensive evaluation by a health care provider.
3. A comprehensive evaluation by a physical therapist.
4. A comprehensive evaluation by an occupational therapist.
5. A group meeting ,with the other patients seen that day, to
discuss common problems encountered by fibromyalgia
patients, such as the misperceptions regarding the diagnosis
that you have encountered, obstacle to doing exercise, problems
with remaining employed, your experience with medications etc.
Your family members and significant others are welcomed to
participate in this session. This group meeting is led by a
health care provider who is experienced in the treatment of
fibromyalgia.
A detailed letter is
sent to your primary care provider that provides the results of
your evaluations and the recommendations for ongoing treatment.
Follow up at the OHSU clinic is arranged on a case by case
basis.
